Long Form Biography:
OVER A DECADE OF IT/WEB-DESIGN EXPERIENCE, LEGISLATIVE KNOW-HOW & PROFESSIONAL WORK EXPERIENCE (REAL ESTATE/LEGAL), & AUTHENTIC STREET GRASSROOTS ACTIVISM.
Pete Thottam is a Los Angeles based internet consultant (web design, search engine optimization strategies (Google Analytics, Adwords, Facebook). He is a long-time resident of both Mar Vista and of Venice where he, his partner Kirstin and their son, Luke, live. He is a progressive attorney, community activist and organizer, and recent 2010 California State Assembly Candidate (On June 8, 2010, Pete secured approximately 2,000 votes and, on a dollar per vote basis, was the best performing candidate of the leading eight candidates who ran for the Democratic nomination).

Mr. Thottam was the founder and Executive Director of the Los Angeles National Impeachment Center and has been a long-time activist in a number of progressive causes as well as the Anti-War movement. In 2007 and 2008, Pete organized and led over 300 volunteers in an entirely self-funded grassroots organizing mobilization with Cindy Sheehan focused on the national antiwar movement and Impeachment campaign against Bush and Cheney. He founded both the White Rose Coalition and LANIC (the Los Angeles National Impeachment Center) and coordinated the gathering of over 16,000 verified signatures and address throughout LA County, securing the passage of Impeachment resolutions by West Hollywood and San Fernando and endorsements by congressional reps Maxine Waters & Diane Watson.

Pete received his undergraduate degree with honors from Yale University where he majored in (1) Economics and (2) Ethics, Government & Philosophy. In addition to a law degree from UC Berkeley's Boalt School of Law, Mr. Thottam has an MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Business. A longtime activist, Pete was so appalled at the deteriorating media coverage in the USA and so convinced that a tragic and mistaken war with Iraq was pending that he resigned from his job as a Los Angeles Corporate Attorney in 2002 in order to focus exclusively on his antiwar work with various antiwar and progressive groups. Pete spent over two years completely dedicated to organizing marches, teach-ins and political lobbying efforts in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York and working actively with Progressive Democrats, with Interfaith Communities United for Justice and Peace and numerous other progressive organizations.
Born in Africa and coming from an Indian background, Mr. Thottam is also fluent in Spanish. He believes it is critical for Americans everywhere to become much more involved politically, informed, engaged and pro-active citizens. Since 2002, Pete has been working with a range of progressive groups focused on helping internationalize American citizens' poltiical consciousness and their awareness of local as well as global economic and environmental problems. He has traveled extensively in Europe, Mexico, the Middle East (Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi/Dubai), Thailand, Mali, Ethiopia, and parts of India, China and Japan. His analytical and activist focus from 2007 forward has surrounded the banking industry, the global economic crisis, and U.S. political, economic & educational reform.
